Tricia Lazuka – Artist Statement

Many artists paint as I do; spontaneously, intuitively, one mark leading to another. A simple discovery may altogether change the course of the paintings. Therein lies the fascination.

As I have a difficult time articulating, I would prefer to share the following quote by Robert Motherwell and Edouard Manet. The thought is simple; the writing clear.

"You cannot explain art any more than you can learn it. Art is a circle, one is either inside it or outside. It is an accident of birth. No one person in the circle resembles his neighbor, but at the same time they are brothers."
