Natalie Abrams – Artist Statement These works are comprised of ribbons of wax representing the emotions captured on ribbons of film and later lost, discarded, or neglected and then deteriorated. They are our history and future. They are the dramatic pauses, glimpses of our surroundings which turn into a freeze frame where life somehow becomes particularly sensitive and. These pieces reflect the textures associated with specific, tangible experiences, moments or events and feelings, which at the moment seem overwhelming but quickly fade from memory. The intention is to elicit a response, to connect with an old forgotten feeling or memory, and to gain from that connection – who and where we were then with who and where we are now.
