Miles
Conrad - Artist Statement
My work is best described as biomorphic abstraction, closely informed by a tradition of feminist, post-minimalist sculpture. I recycle industrial materials and found objects into relief-based encaustic forms referencing the body as it relates to injury, trauma and the apparatus of pathology. I am interested in invoking the ways these are sublimated within the body and the ways in which they fail to be fully contained.
