	Margaret Suchland - Artist Statement The making of artists books has been of interest to me for many years. As a printmaker and painter, I enjoy the process involved with artists books because of the flexibility it allows me of employing a wide range of mediums, materials and forms. My works are often unique book assemblages incorporating found objects. A sense of time, place, memory and the emotional connections within them are a recurring theme. These remnants from the past hold a clue that can reveal a “presence of an absence” - a past activity or relationship. My understanding and appreciation for these found objects are changed and enriched as I create new and unexpected meanings with them. As I move forward as an artist, the making of artists books will continue to be an integral part of my journey.
