Julie Sasse – Artist Statement

My work is a visual response to the world around me. The objects, images, and shapes I incorporate into my paintings and sculptures serve as metaphors for situations, people, and emotional states of being. Often these works serve as markers for my place in time or as acts of catharsis. My work is process oriented. To me, the act of creating and the physicality of expression are equally as important as the message I try to convey.
