Michael Joplin– Artist Statement

Born in Texas in 1953. Parents, Seth and Dorothy. Sisters, Janis and Laura. Started some college adventures after high school. Michael was driving to California in 1972 when someone he accidentally met stated, “They are teaching this really weird class you might like.” That was in Prescott, AZ at Yavapai College under Vincent Kelly. Michael became a glassblower that month.

  • Michael has shown glass in almost every venue you can imagine. From Mom and Pop Galleries to The Renwick Gallery in Washington, DC. He has shown and sold work from Tokyo to Paris. He is in several collections worldwide including, John Doe in Podunk, Iowa to The Smithsonian, Washington, DC
