Job Title:
Art Studio Intern (Miles Conrad Encaustics)
Job Type: Unpaid Internship (Available for School Credit)
Hours: Variable 9 Hours/Week. Some Evenings and Weekends for gallery openings.
Qualifications:
Possesses
history of superior employment performance and references.
Possesses
excellent oral and written communication skills.
Maintains
a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
Access to licensed, insured and reliable transportation on a monthly basis.
Knowledge
of or interest in theories and practices of contemporary art.
Experience using basic studio hand tools and safety equipment is helpful.
Ability to stand for minimum of 3 hours and lift up to 25lbs.
Core Training Areas:
Studio Support: Receive training on encaustic (beeswax) painting and sculpture processes in order to assist in the production of elements used for finished pieces of original art. Receiving training on studio preparation, clean up, organization and supply ordering.
Art Handling:
Receive training on all aspects of art handling: unpacking, inventory, labeling, installing, de-installing, packing, and shipping artwork.
Event Planning:
Assist with planning and implementation of opening receptions. Event
attendance is required 1st Saturday of every month from 6-9 pm.
Administrative
Duties: Perform data entry and other administrative duties.
Facility
Maintenance: Perform routine gallery cleaning, painting, organizing tasks.
This position is intended to provide a comprehensive overview of how an art gallery functions and how a professional artist maintains a studio practice. Students will be exposed to all aspects of studio & gallery management as well as a variety of approaches to contemporary art. Conrad Wilde Gallery is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Ability
to perform basic administrative functions using Internet and MSOffice.
Basic knowledge
of database software (FileMaker Pro7) OR ability to learn.
Access
to licensed, insured and reliable transportation on a monthly basis.
Knowledge
of or interest in theories and practices of contemporary art.
Core Training Areas:
Customer
Service: Greet gallery customers; communicate about the artists/artwork/gallery,
complete sales transactions.
Gallery
Marketing: Assist with the development and distribution of press releases,
direct mailing and exhibition announcements. Place follow up calls to
media contacts, clients and design trade professionals.
Gallery
Curatorial: Assist with the cultivation, recruiting and documentation
processes for upcoming exhibitions.
Art Handling:
Receive, inventory, label, install, de-install, pack, and ship artwork.
Custom
Framing: Perform client consultation on custom frame
selection, estimates and ordering.
Event Planning:
Assist with planning and implementation of opening receptions. Event
attendance is MANDATORY 1st Saturday night of every month.
Administrative
Duties: Perform data entry and other administrative duties.
Facility
Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and organizing tasks.
This
