Follow the Arrow

David A. Clark– Artist Statement

My work is all about impulse and forward motion. For the last year, my printwork has been exploring directional influences, layering color and arrows to create a sense of impulse and visual pull. For me, working with wax and, more specifically, printing with wax is in and of itself a process that is made from motion. The wax moves, forms, absorbs into the paper and solidifies in changing ways. One must adapt and adjust to it's changing movement. It is a "yes" practice. If one yields to the flow of the materials and allows the movement of the wax to guide them, there can be no other way but onward - letting the arrow guide the way.
