Burton Ford - Artist Statement

My paintings attempt to address visual themes of separation and connection. Also, they address themes of inside/outside as they relate to expression of soul, mind and body. I am preoccupied with internal divides between self and body, external divides within communities, and emotional divides between people on an intimate level. My work is a visual exploration of those concepts and an expression of my desire to re-unify across some of the divides I experience that are false and destructive.
