Beth Cumings Solem - Artist Statement My art originates with the concept of code. From human DNA to computer programming, information and code have become the basis for understanding life. Code is the reality of all things material and immaterial. As I work, my mind invariably envisions the codes that create all that we are and experience as humans. Biography Beth Cumings
Solem studied Art History at Iowa State University and St. Catherine’s
College, Cambridge (England). She continued her studies at Scottsdale
Community College and Arizona State in Architectural and Interior Design.
She has studied studio art with many very talented artists including
Peter Voulkos, Paul Soldner, Don Reitz, Chris Federighi (sculpture),
Lari Pitman, Roy Dowell, Beth Ames Swartz, Holly Roberts (mixed media)
and Judith Walsh (encaustic).
