Allyson Sanburn Malek– Artist Statement

It is important that the entire process of creation remains joyful and expectant as the painting reveals itself to me, as I believe that art is imbued with the energy of the artist. Through creativity and focus I create idealized expressions of personal experience that moves or intrigues me long enough to pause and ponder. To capture someone’s attention, even briefly, is the power of art.

This latest series of moody abstract landscapes is painted from memory, rather than a specific place. Clouds, earth and sky meet somewhere in the middle to evoke a distant memory, a long ago sunset, another time and place.
